    • structural and functional changes at the local level, i.e. that of small towns,
    • role of small towns in regional settlement systems, especially in Wielkopolska,
    • new towns in the Polish settlement network,
    • applications of regionalization methods in geographical research

BARBARA KONECKA-SZYDŁOWSKA

PhD in Earth Sciences in the field of Socio-Economic Geography

Adjunct lecturer in the Department of Regional Analysis at the Institute of Socio-Economic Geography and Spatial Management of Adam Mickiewicz University (UAM) in Poznań.

Publications and research: author or co-author of two academic monographs and over 70 articles published in both national and international publications. Participant of more than 60 scientific conferences. She took part in six national and international research projects funded by, e.g., the National Science Centre and Metropolitan Research Centre of Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań. She co-authored two expert academic analyses, commissioned by the Marshall Office of Wielkopolska in Poznań. She held foreign scientific internships in Leibniz-Institut fur Landerkunde in Leipzig (Germany) and in Gran Sasso Science Institute w L’Aquili (Italy). Several times counsellor of full-time and extramural students in the Faculty of Geographical and Geological Sciences and examiner in the recruitment committee for the Spatial Management and Geography field of study. Member and juror of the Regional Committee for the Geographical Olympics in Poznań of the Polish Geographical Society.
